About Jason Sokol

I was once called the guy “that doesn’t know when something can’t be done.” I had to laugh a bit when I heard this. I have always been the type of person that looks for ways to figure out problems, whether it is helping a client find a new way to improve her marketing or helping small business owners better understand the role social media can play in their marketing efforts. No matter how frustrated you might be or difficult a challenge is, this is where I thrive.

What I do

I am marketer, social media fanatic and budding entrepreneur. I now work as the Director of Retail Marketing for Associated Food Stores. We are located in Salt Lake City, Utah. I work with an incredibly talented team that is intensely focused on helping independent grocery store retailers across the Western United States thrive in one of the most competitive businesses and markets around.

I am also a husband and expectant father. Cassie and I will be welcoming a beautiful little girl into the world later this July. We are also the proud parents of Charlie, the world’s cutest Shih Tzu and Sophie, our very own attack cat.

I wake up early and stay up late to work on one of my other passions, the AIM Above The Mark blog, a site that focuses on helping small businesses discover and refine their marketing through real world and online interactions.

The Low Down

I am huge proponent of keeping marketing relevant, affordable, and in touch with the many technologies that are available to us. Social media completely changed the marketing landscape, namely putting consumers in control and giving them the ability to engage the brands/businesses they love (or hate) on a one-to-one level. Businesses that want to remain relevant must look for ways to take advantage of these tools and start using them to form long-term, meaningful relationships with their current and potential customers. One of the best ways to achieve this is by integrating all of their marketing efforts to produce concise, easy to understand, and effective modes of communication.

My goal for AIM Above The Mark blog is to 1) help small business owners understand how to use them any tools that are available to them to better market their goods and services and 2) connect with other marketers and social media advocates to learn more about our art form.

Let’s Build A Community

I would like to connect with other marketers, public relations experts, creatives and potential clients that are interested in finding ways to use marketing to better connect businesses with their local communities in relevant and meaningful ways:

  • In what ways can you develop a business culture that increases team member and customer loyalty?
  • What drives the customer to choose one retailer over another?
  • How are digital communities built and how can they be used to enhance retail sales?

These are just a few of the questions that interest me, but there is one question matters more than any of the others:

  • How can marketing be used to help drive positive social change while helping businesses develop long-term, sustainable business results?

Connect with me. Let’s start looking for ways to work together and produce positive change.
