About

My Mission

Help you get smarter and be a more effective business professional.

Did You Know…

  • U.S. adults ranked 12th among 20 high income countries in composite (document, prose, and quantitative) literacy. (reference)
  • To participate fully in society and the workplace in 2020, citizens will need powerful literacy abilities that until now have been achieved by only a small percentage of the population. (reference)
  • According to a United Nations survey of worldwide adult literacy, of the 158 participating nations, the United States ranks 49th. In 1992 the U.S. Education Department’s National Center for Education Statistics conducted a National Adult Literacy Survey to assess the depth and breadth of literacy problems in the United States. The survey suggested that 20 percent or more of U.S. adults possess no better than a fifth-grade reading capacity. (reference)

“Readers Are Leaders, Leaders are Readers”

A dear friend of mine shared this statement with me and it has profoundly affected my life. Though I have always been an avid reader, I had not thought about sharing my reading with others to help them succeed. Hence the new direction with the blog. My earlier blog was a bit all over the place and though I had good success with my efforts, I will admit to burning out a bit.

One thing remains constant in my life – I love to read and share what I have learned with others. I’ve also come to realize that the best business professionals that I work with are the ones that are open-minded, love to learn and aren’t afraid to pick up a book.

My Ultimate Goal

To help you succeed by getting you to read more, applying what you learn and sharing the wisdom with others.

Why Books?

School is expensive and it requires a massive time commitment. You should seek out as much education as you can possibly afford; however, this is not realistic for all.

On the other hand, books are affordable (or free if you have a library card) and require far less of a time commitment. You still have to work to read a book and there is a time commitment involved. Books also give you access to professionals that you may never have an opportunity to meet. It’s like having access to a bunch of geniuses in the comfort of your own home.

If you are locked in a car everyday or like hours of cardio, try an audio book instead. I prefer traditional print books, but I also have an Audible account and spend time listening to audio books during my commute to and from work every day. To paraphrase Zig Ziglar, ‘It’s like having a college right in your car.’

About Jason Sokol

I was once called the guy “that doesn’t know when something can’t be done.” I had to laugh a bit when I heard this. I have always been the type of person that looks for ways to figure out problems, whether it is helping a client find a new way to improve her marketing or assisting small business owners better understand the role social media can play in their marketing efforts. No matter how frustrated you might be or difficult a challenge is, this is where I thrive.

What I Do
